Sankranthi has been a lucrative festival for films. But these days, the big hero films that release during the season, started failing so miserably that a small film or another star film can take double advantage.
Also, if all films are good, the better one earns more and the choice of family audiences will decide the next best one’s place.
Sharwanand showed it twice with Shatamanam Bhavathi and Express Raja. He could make a mark during the festival with both of his films even though there were bigger star films fighting it out, during the same time.
That really opened eyes of many producers and distributors. By increasing the number of multiplexes, they are looking to accomodate 4 to 6 releases during the Sankranthi season, that consists of two full weeks of festivities in rural areas.
Accordingly, they are asking stars to have 2 days gap between their releases, so that the first day accomodation for films can be maximised.
Soggade Chinni Nayana, Shatamanam Bhavathi, F2 showed that availability of screens won’t be an issue as once the heavy rush is settled and talk of various releases is out, you will have long legs during the season.
Now, even though Sarileru Neekevvaru, Ala Vaikuntapuramu lo have announced their arrival for the season, still many films are trying to book their slot too.
Sharwanand did not confirm but his Srikaaram might add to the list of releases for Sankranthi and his 96, Tamil remake of same name, could release during Christmas.
This means he has plans to release two films back to back and he might also come up with his Tamil-Telugu bilingual at the start of the Summer season. Looks like the actor wants people to forget, Ranarangam and Padi Padi Leche Manasu debacles soon.
