Tollywood is currently making around six remake films. The list includes films like ‘Narappa’, ‘Vakeel Saab’, ‘Andhadhun’ remake and few others. But the real question is, how many of these films can impress our audience? The reason behind this new tension is the failure of some latest remakes.
Barring some films like ‘Rakshasudu’ and Varun Tej’s ‘Gaddlakonda Ganesh’, none of the remakes in the recent past turned out to be successful. Dil Raju remade Tamil classic love story ’96’ as ‘Jaanu’ with Samantha and Sharwanand in the lead. They even took care of not missing the original flavor by roping in the original’s director. Even Kalyan Ram’s ‘Entha Manchi Vaadavura’ ended up as a failure despite the Sankranti advantage. Remakes have not been fruitful for Tollywood makers for a long time now.
That is why the producers who are bankrolling some remakes these days are getting worried a lot. The makers of Ram’s ‘RED’ are facing the same situation and that is the reason why they are taking such a long time on the editing table as per sources. If remakes that come from star heroes fail to impress the viewers, the distributors and buyers are surely going to have huge losses. We need to see how much these films rake up in case they become successful.
