Now that there is complete clarity over the candidates who are in the fray, the scene is all set to get hotter. Though the fight is going to be maily between the Congress and the TRS, there are other parties too in the fray. Interestingly, even parties like the TDP, which opted out the Lok Sabha race are entering the fray this time. In another unprecedented move, top leaders of the TRS have personally drove over to the CPI office seeking its support. The CPI said it would announce its decision on Tuesday.
As for the candidates, former MLA and wife of PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, Padmavathi is the Congress candidate, while Syedi Reddy is the TRS candidate. Reddy has unsuccessfully contested last time. While Kota Rama Rao is the BJP candidate, Parepalli Sekhar Rao would be the CPM candidate. In addition, Huzurnagar TDP constituency incharge Chava Kiranmayi would be the TDP candidate.
Another interesting aspect is the sarpanches Sangham, which has been demanding a better deal for the sarpanches in terms of transfer of funds and powers to the local bodies, have threatened to file nominations in big way. Many sarpanches are planning to file their papers. To prevent the filing of nomination by the sarpanches, the government has already arrested Sarpanches Sangham honorary president Bhumanna. Upset by this, more sarpanches are likely to file nominations.
