Cash is still the primary mode used to pay bribes. Rajasthan is the most corrupt in the country, closely followed by Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Telangana emerged to be India’s 5th most corrupt state, the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh stands at 13th position, according to ‘India Corruption Survey-2019.
The survey, conducted in Telangana, studied 5,500 respondents. The study revealed that 67% of 5,500 respondents admitted to paying a bribe to get their work done. Out of which, 56% gave bribes several times (directly or indirectly). At the same time, 11% of respondents said that they got work done without paying a bribe. Citizens responded low instances of corruption in states of Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kerala, Goa, and Odisha.
