Violence At Wistron unit: Management Alleges Thousands Of Phones Worth Rs 440 Crore Stolen


The manufacturer of Apple’s flagship device iPhone in India, Wriston which faced the wrath of the workers working at the Narsapura plant in Karnataka became the talk of the town once again. The Taiwan-based conglomerate Wistron alleged that the violence that broke out at the manufacturing plant resulted in thousands of iPhones getting stolen and property at the plant was damaged. The management of the manufacturing unit has alleged that the loss they faced at the unit is worth nearly Rs 437 crore and cried conspiracy behind the violence.

In its police complaint, the management alleged that in the attack, thousands of iPhones were stolen, while the factory equipment at the manufacturing unit was destroyed. Recalling the violence, on the 12th of this month, more than 2,000 employees working at the Wriston manufacturing unit went on a rampage and destroyed the equipment, furniture, and glasses at the unit.

It is also believed that the vehicles parked outside the manufacturing unit were also severely damaged during the violent attack. Reports claimed that the employees have expressed their anger on the management by vandalizing the manufacturing unit after the management allegedly delayed the salary payments. The workers alleged that the management has been delaying the salary payments and increased their working hours without informing them.
