Anjali’s Geethanjali movie has hit the big-screens today. Geethanjali is said to be a horror comedy starring Anjali in the titular role while Srinivas Reddy, Brahmanandam and Harshavardhan Rane in prominent roles. Read the cast performances here on Geethanjali film review.

Geethanjali film is directed by Raj Kiran and produced by M.V.V.Satyanarayana under the banner of MVV Cinema. Kona Venkat is presenting the movie. Praveen Lakkaraju has scored the music for Geethanjali.

Story:

Srinivas (Srinivas Reddy) is an aspiring filmmaker who wants to make it big and in this process, he meets an IT company MD (rao ramesh) who has a strong itch for cinema. Srinivas narrates his story wherein he reveals about how two friends rent a flat which is haunted and how one man meets Anjali (anjali) in a bus journey and becomes friends. Incidentally, Srinivas is joined by few other friends and all of them try to figure out how to escape from the ghost. Whether that happens or not forms the rest.

Performances:

Anjali: She excels in the role which gives enough scope for performance and also looks glamorous when required. Her performance in few scenes is praise worthy.

Srinivas Reddy: Geethanjali is a big break for him and its like a promotion for this Comedian as he was the one who travels with the story right from start to end. He did complete justice to his role.

Rao Ramesh: He does a decent job.

Brahmanandam: As Saitan Raj, Comedy King entertains in few scenes.

Harshavardhan Rane and Dil Raju are just okay.

Shakalaka Shankar is a big asset. He is not just imitating Ram Gopal Varma; he is providing laughs speaking dialogues in typical Srikakulam slang. He will have great career in industry. Satyam Rajesh is also witty.

Brahmanandam and Sapthagiri were wasted totally.

Technical Departments:

Written by Kona Venkat and directed by Raj Kiran, Geethanjali has a very promising first half but the second half loses life due to predictable subject. It would have been if the director and writer managed to maintain the suspense and thrill even across the second half. A horror comedy doesn’t essentially have to be a message or moral oriented one !!!Geethanjali is not too high on graphics except for two or three scenes. Sai Sri Ram has done a simple and neat job otherwise.There are very few songs in Geethanjali and Praveen Lakkaraju has done an average job on it.

Analysis:

Coming up with a horror movie is one thing but mixing it with comedy and making it an enjoyable experience needs a lot of skill and talent. This film is one such example and it has worked well. The first half breezes very smoothly and it is filled with elements of comedy, some horror and also some emotion. The interval bang was interesting. The second half saw a slight dip but it eventually picked up in the final stages.

Final Word: Overall, this is a film which would appeal the youth as well as the mass audience. At the box office, the chances of success look very high.
