Anasuya Bharadwaj Not Doing Silk Smitha Biopic

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapatla aka Silk Smitha was one of the most happened heroines in the 80s and 90s. Having made her debut with Pushyaraagam in 1979, Smitha rose to fame with her role as Silk in the movie Vandichakaram. After featuring in more than 450 movies in multiple languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, the star actress died by suicide in 1996.

Recently, there was a buzz that TV anchor-actor Anasuya Bharadwaj will be playing Silk Smitha in a biopic. The speculations were rife after the actress posted a picture from her upcoming Tamil project and mentioned Silk Smitha as the reference.

However, Anasuya has denied reports about working in a biopic of Silk Smitha. The Rangasthalam actress took to Twitter and wrote, “I am NOT playing #SilkSmita Garu in any biopic. Thank you (sic).”

Anasuya Bharadwaj won a lot of appreciation for her acting in Ram Charan starrer Rangasthalam. She is currently starring in Chiranjeevi’s Acharya and a yet-untitled Tamil project.
