Cast: Arshad Warsi, Naseeruddin Shah, Madhuri Dixit, Huma Qureshi, Vijay Raaz

Film: Dedh Ishqiya

Director:
Abhishek Chaubey

Story:

The story of the movie revolves around middle-aged Begum of Mahmudabad, Begum Para, (Madhuri Dixit) who is hosting a festival of poetry and music in her mansion. Khalujaan (Naseeruddin Shah) disguised as the Nawab of Chandpur, participates as a poet to impress the beautiful, widowed Begum. Though Khalujaan has nothing to do with poetry, he tries his best to woo Begum Para, a connoisseur of poems. He impresses Begum Para with his poetry and begins plans to marry her. Everything was going smooth until Babban (Arshad Warsi) turns up in the festival to take Khalujaan back to his world of crime. But Babban is attracted to the Begum’s sexy maid Muniya and he drops his plan of taking Khalujaan back. Muniya has her own plans as she has strong connection with gangsters. Guns, daring chases and hidden intention take the place of love.

When it comes to acting, Dedh Ishqiya is endowed with some great performances.  Like Ishqiya, Naseeruddin Shah as Khalujaan and Arshad Warsi as Babban, again getting into the skin of their characters and showing some extra ordinary performances.

Madhuri in an unconventional role once again proved why she is the undisputed queen of Bollywood. She looks convincing as Begum Para because her age suits the character well. Huma has also done a good job.

Credit must be given to Abhishek Chaubey’s direction, good story and strong narration. But there are some loopholes also. Actors don’t look easy while enacting romantic scene. While the songs of Ishqiya like Ibn-e-batuta and Dil toh bachcha hai ji was hit, Dedh Ishqiya lacks in this criteria.

The songs of Dedh Ishqiya have not garnered much attention from audiences.

If you want to have fun this weekend, Dedh Ishqiya would be the ultimate choice.
