The king of comedy, David Dhawan is back after after a log gap with Main Tera Hero. Starring his son, and new age sensation Varun Dhawan, this film also stars Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’Cruz in other lead roles. After a huge round of promotions, this film has finally hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Shrinath Prasad(Varun Dhawan) is a mischievous guy, who leaves his hometown to pursue his higher studies in Bangalore. Soon after he starts his college, he falls in love with Sunaina (Ileana D’cruz).
But there is a twist in the tale. Angad (Arunoday Singh) a corrupt cop wants to forcibly marry Sunaina, and doesn’t allow any one to come near her. On the other hand Vikranth’s (Anupam Kher) daughter Ayesha (Nargis Fakhri) also falls in love with Seenu and wants to marry him.
Rest of the story is as to how Seenu fights Angad to unite with his love, and also saves himself from Vikrant and his crazy daughter.
Give your brain some rest, and do not try to find logic in this one, as there is none. But then again that is the best part about the film. David Dhawan makes sure that the viewers have helluva time by making a movie which is a laugh riot right from the word go.
Speaking of performances, an amalgamation of Govinda and Salman Khan is here and he’s called Varun Dhawan. The actor is at his best and steals the show every time he walks on screen. He even manages to sideline the hotness, Nargis Fakhri.
Ileana D’Cruz gives a decent performance while Nargis Fakhri does the task she had been allotted to do, adding glamour quotient to the film.
Arunoday Singh has proven his acting worth in his earlier movies, and this one is a feature in his cap. Saurabh Shukla shows off his hilarious side. After a very long time, Rajpal Yadav is seen doing what he does best, tickling people’s funny bones.
Rest of the cast is equally good. Another good part about the film is the usage of Salman Khan’s voice, which Varun communicates with, in the form of God.
Forget finding something fresh and new in the movie, as its all a typical David Dhawan style film. Most of the scenes and even dance steps are taken from Dhawan’s old Govinda and Salman flicks.
Some of the scenes are not connected, while a few doesn’t make sense at all. Ileana looks OK, but Nargis’ entry makes her take the side-track. She is a misfit as she neither looks good with Varun nor Arunoday.
Another negative point of the movie is its end part, which becomes a little tedious.
Being a David Dhawan movie, Main Tera Hero is high on technicality. David clearly knows how to keep his viewers glued to their seats and he does just that.
All the songs of the movie remain in their minds for a long time even after the film gets over. Each song is excellent, and is placed aptly in the screenplay.
The movie is fast-paced, which is the best part about it. The viewers don’t get time to be bored and they easily stay involved in every scene. Cinematography is top-class and editing is extremely sharp. The production value is high and the locations are amazing.
On the whole, Main Tera Hero is an full on masala entertainer in true David Dhawan style. If you have missed Govinda in the recent years, this films is a best way to see him back on screen in the form of Varun Dhawan. A must Watch indeed.
