Mr 7 Review

Movie : Mr 7
Cast & Crew : SVR,Neelam
Music : Munna Kasi
Director : SR Charan Reddy
Producer : SVLS Ranga Rao

SVR, grandson of S V Ranga Rao, has arrived and he has attempted his debut with a mass entertainer. Whether he is successful or not let us see

Story
Lakshman (SVR) is an orphan who grows up to be a car thief and he is assisted by his childhood friend Anji (Srinivasa Reddy). Meanwhile, a notorious gangster Nayak (Satyadev) comes to Hyderabad and his mission is to rob a bank. Usually he hires the local thieves and kills them once the job is done. He is also successful in looting the bank. On the other hand, Lakshman falls in love with Nakshatra (Neelam) and lies to her father that he owns a restaurant. In order to make money for the restaurant, Lakshman steals a Mercedes Benz car so that he can sell and make money. But that car has something very valuable. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances
SVR has given a committed performance and his passion for cinema is evident. However, there are many departments that he needs to work on if he is planning for a long term career.

Neelam Upadhyay looks cute and as such her character has no meat so she was there for the songs and the romance track. She must focus on upping her sex appeal.

Srinivasa Reddy provides the much needed energy and humour quotient for the film. His sense of timing and his dialogue delivery are quite impressive. He did his job well.

Sathyadev was alright. Sravan got a lengthy role and he did justice to it aptly. M S Narayana, Jeeva brought few smiles. Prithvi was effective. AVS, Gundu Hanumantha Rao were there for a scene. Ravi as the cycle lover made his presence felt. The others didn’t have much to do.

Highlights:

  • Songs and music
  • Padding artists

Drawbacks:

  • Screenplay

Analysis:
There are many factors to make a movie successful and to make the hero famous. Having a good director is not sufficient. The story should be engaging, the screenplay should be tight and the entertainment value must be high. These were few basics which were missing in this movie. In a snapshot, the film had a hiccup due to the protagonist. As such, SVR has given a sincere attempt and he has a good height, a body language to dance or fight.

However, in terms of performance there is a lot of grooming which is required. A total makeover is compulsory.

The good thing is, he has not hammed about his grandfather and made this his own independent attempt.

On the other hand, the basic plot of the film has been taken from the Bollywood movie ‘99’ and the rest was tweaked here and there.  The other plus point was the padding artists who gave some energy to the film. In today’s times, the demands of the audience are high and they expect a lot of things such as quality romance track, intense drama scenes, punch comedy etc. Those elements were not to be seen and that’s why the film suffers.

Only the music and BGM saved the film. Almost all the songs made audience sit in theaters. Songs should be used extensively for promoting this film.

Overall, the makers must be appreciated for their effort but there is a lot of work to be done if they want to get into a better league. There is ample responsibility on the shoulders of SVR as his grand father’s image will be at stake. He needs to start his grooming exercise to survive in industry- right from cutting down weight, learning expressions to correcting voice modulation and voice culture.

Bottomline: Hero is a thief but fails to steal hearts of audience
