The ongoing pandemic, which left lakhs of people, Ministers, Chief Ministers, and several public representatives infected with the virus has hit one more Union Minister. Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has tested positive for Covid-19. She announced the news of catching the disease on her Twitter handle. She urged everyone who might have come in contact with her to undergo tests.
“It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement hence here’s me keeping it simple â€” I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest,” her Tweet read.
Smriti Irani has actively taken part in the BJP’s campaign for the Bihar Assembly polls. She addressed election campaigns and even took part in rallies in some of the key constituencies in Bihar.
In the last 24 hours, India reported as many as 43,893 fresh pandemic cases, pushing the total cases in the country to 79,90,322. With over 72 lakh patients beating the virus, the active case stood at 6,10,803.
