Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 309


After the recent launch of Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311, today, on September 25, Nokia has introduced two new members to the Asha Touch Family, namely, Asha 308 and Asha 309.

The Finnish handset maker has kept the prices of both the smartphones at a competitive price of sub Rs 6,000 price tag, targeting the budget-friendly smartphone market.

Commenting at the launch, Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia was quoted saying, “Our innovative Asha Touch family of devices is designed for people who want a great smartphone experience with lower running costs.”

According to Will Stofega, a Mobile Phone Program Director at IDC, “Nokia’s Asha Touch family delivers all the core smartphone experiences, and with the new software developer kit, provides ever-increasing flexibility for developers to build compelling new experiences for consumers.”

Besides the new Asha series handsets, Nokia has also released a new version of the Nokia Xpress Browser, Nokia Xpress Web App Builder – a web based tool, Nokia Life+ and Nokia Nearby web applications.

Nokia Asha 308

Have a look at the specifications of the dual SIM smartphone – Asha 308 with the Nokia’s industry-leading Easy Swap technology, which allows users to switch between multiple SIM cards easily without rebooting the handset.

Dimensions & Weight: With a dimension of 109.9 x 54.0 x 13.0 mm, Asha 308 weighs in at 104 grams.

Display: The handset sports a 3 inch capacitive multipoint touchscreen display with 400 x 240 pixel resolution.

OS: Asha 308 runs on the Nokia OS (Series 40).

Camera: The handset is equipped with a 2MP rear camera with fixed focus and and no front camera.

Memory: On the memory front, Asha 308 has 64MB internal memory, 128MB mass memory and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.

The Asha 309 is the single SIM variant of the Asha 308. Check its specifications below.

Dimensions & Weight: Asha 309 boasts a dimension of 109.9 x 54.0 x 13.2 mm weighs around 102 grams.

Display: The handset packs a 3 inch WQVGA capacitive multipoint touchscreen display with 400 x 240 pixel resolution.

OS: Asha 309 also runs on the Nokia OS (Series 40), similar to other Asha series smartphones.

Camera: The handset is equipped with a 2MP rear camera with fixed focus and and no front camera.

Memory: On the memory front, Asha 309 has 64MB internal memory, 128MB mass memory and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.

Connectivity: In terms of connectivity, the handset packs features like Bluetooth v3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and micro USB 2.0.

Price & Availability

When it comes to the pricing of Asha 308 and Asha 309 handsets, Nokia estimates the retail price for the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 to be about $ 99 (approx. Rs 5,300), excluding taxes and subsidies.

The Asha 308 and Asha 309 are expected to start shipping to various markets globally beginning October this year and following that more details about the pricing and availability in India will be stated towards the end of this year.
