BlackBerry Z10 sales encouraging: CEO

BlackBerry’s flagship phone, the BlackBerry Z10, is selling well in the 21 countries where it was launched, Chief Executive Thorsten Heins said.The Z10 which runs on the company’s newly unveiled mobile operating system, BlackBerry 10, is on sale in Canada, Germany, UK, India, UAE, South Africa and Indonesia, among other countries. The US launch will be later this month, said Heins.

Heins also said that it has been a real surprise for the company, judging by the traction the BB10 platform and Z10 as product is attracting, especially from users who are on other platforms.He also said the high-end Z10 had exceeding expectations in markets like India, where cheaper entry-level devices are quite popular.

According to CEO, the release date for the BlackBerry Q10 — the BB10 smartphone with a physical keyboard — has been shifted to April.
