AP Capital Shifting Ceremony Postponed, New Date Fixed

One more twist in much talked about capital shifting of Andhra Pradesh took place with some media reports claiming that the plans to shift the capital from Amaravati were postponed.

Given the prevailing situations like cases pending in both Andhra Pradesh High Court and Supreme Court regarding the capital shifting bills.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh government has fixed the 16th of August as the date to shift the capital and making shore city Visakhapatnam as the Administrative Capital for the state.

It is believed that the government even got Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appointment to invite him for the foundation ceremony.

As the bills are going through legal hurdles, the state government took a back step from going ahead with the capital shifting ceremony. Reportedly, the government fixed another date for this.

If the information provided by the media reports is to be believed, the capital shifting ceremony will take place on Dusshera.

After Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan gave his nod for The AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of all Regions Bill-2020 and APCRDA (Repeal) Bill -2020, the issued a gazette.

Following this, Amaravati farmers moved the High Court and the court issued states quo on the three capitals bill. The government moved the Supreme Court to issue a stay on the status quo.
