iPhone 6’s alleged metal frame leaked online

NEW DELHI: Apple’s next-generation iPhone is expected to arrive in fall (September-October) but that doesn’t stop the leaks from pouring in. New pictures allegedly featuring iPhone 6’s metal chassis have appeared online courtesy Chinese website Xiaolongchakan.

The images show a metal rear case that features cutouts for the antenna. The case has rounded edges that are much thinner compared to the iPhone 5/5S. The right edge of the case features the power button, which means that Apple may move it from its current position for easier one hand access. This is also in line with rumours suggesting that the new iPhone is said to sport a larger display (4.7-inch or 5.5-inch).

Previously, pictures of a similar frame had appeared online on Weibo. The pictures were allegedly taken at a Foxconn testing facility.

It has been reported several times in the past that Apple will unveil two iPhones this year, one with a 4.7-inch screen and other with 5.5- or 5.7-inch display.

In February this year, the first set of leaked iPhone images surfaced on the internet. These images showed that the next-generation iPhone will sport a design similar to that of iPad Air and be much thinner than the iPhone

5S. Other rumoured features of the next-generation iPhone include health-centred apps, 13MP camera, solar charging, scratch-resistant sapphire screen and faster Wi-Fi.
