Second-generation OnePlus One’s details leaked


OnePlus-OneAs the launch of the much-anticipated OnePlus One in India is looming closer, details of its successor have already started to emerge. We reported earlier, some details of the next generation OnePlus smartphone, and now Business Insider gives us more scoop on the next-gen OnePlus device.

A source familiar with the situation told the publication, “It will probably be more customizable, since the company is aiming to produce more of its StyleSwap back covers around the time the phone launches. The company released a Bamboo-style back cover for its One phone, but discontinued it in September due to manufacturing issues.”

Furthermore, the sources said that the next OnePlus phone will likely still be cheaper than other off-contract Android phones, however a little more expensive than the OnePlus One. The phone will likely cost less than $500 even if there are significant hardware improvements since OnePlus wants to keep its margins thin. And lastly, the source said that there will be some “surprises in store when it comes to hardware.” The source however refrained from elaborating any further.

Dubbed as OnePlus Two, the next generation OnePlus smartphone is also rumored to run on Android Lollipop and have a relatively smaller display than the One Plus One.

OnePlus One was launched in April this year and was critically acclaimed by reviewers and users alike. The phone costs $350 off contract and includes some of the best components, with an attractive design and a bright, sharp screen for about half the price of your standard Android flagship.

OnePlus is reportedly partnering Amazon India to launch OnePlus One. The device is believed to be priced below Rs 25,000 and will be sold through a special invite system.
