The phenomenal success of Baahubali across film industries including Kollywood, where non-Tamil films rarely score brownies, has prompted the Tamil distributors to look up to Tollywood for more potential biggies.
Reportedly, a noted Tamil distribution firm has come forward to release the Tamil dubbed version of Balakrishna Nandamuri’s recent historical film ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ across Tamil Nadu. Since the film belongs to historical genre and also it is a critically acclaimed one, buyers are confident of its success in Tamil Nadu, where audiences are still engulfed in Baahubali euphoria.
The fact that Shriya Saran and Hema Malini have played key roles in the film, may also help the Tamil version attract audiences. Moreover, the film narrates the story of a Southern king who fights with Marathas (North) and foreign invaders, a point that can connect well with Tamil people.
GPS is being planned to be released in 200 screens. More details will be revealed soon.
